Sometimes, rebellion is necessary to find our true selves. In Szerb Antal’s novel, “The Traveler and the Moonlight,” Mihály’s life took a Gellért-like turn when he met Millicent Ingram in Foligno. Until then, who was he? Just an ordinary, young man from Buda, trapped in a declining marriage. The Italian adventure disrupted his comfortable and dull life, plunging him into the thick of existence, and in the midst of the whirlwind, he found himself. The unfiltered essence of the young American woman, her raw zest for life, refreshed him, breaking him free from his resignation.
This is precisely what unfiltered gin does. It’s an unknown category so far, completely defying the conventional. But that’s why we love Mrs. Millicent because there’s never a dull moment with her. “This isn’t perfume, darling! It’s gin!” she would say, and there’s nothing truer for the unfiltered version.
Being there during the distillation process is always a special experience because when the first batch is ready, incredible aromas fill the air, and the drink itself carries fuller, rounder flavors before filtration. The creators of Mrs Millicent wanted to show this to others, which is why we bottled it immediately after distillation.
The spices and fruits are the same, including cardamom, orange, and bergamot, yet the effect is entirely different. Due to its unfiltered nature, it becomes opalescent and clears at room temperature.
A special batch, with only 300 bottles made.
